Terror database quadrupled in four years

The Terrorist Identities Datamart Environment (TIDE) is the storehouse for data about individuals, which the intelligence community considers to be terrorist threats to the United States and other countries. It is the wellspring for suspect lists distributed to airlines, law enforcement, border posts and consulates. Started in 2003 with 100.000 records, it now contains more than 435.000 files. With the growing number of suspects, the criticism on the accuracy of TIDE is increasing as well. The Washington Post calls TIDE a 'vacuum cleaner for both proven and unproven information'. Civil rights and privacy groups have called for increased transparency. The managers of TIDE disclaim responsibility for how other agencies use the data. The heart of the matter however, lies in intelligent identification methods. Please click here to download the Human Inference best practice on this topic.

SOA? It´s all about the quality of the content

One of the Top10 predictions for 2007 of the IT Compliance Institute is that the growing need for more standardized processes will boost commitment towards service oriented architectures (SOA´s). However, optimizing and standardizing business processes and the underlying business applications must be related to the data content and its quality.

The HIquality Suite for Total Data Quality Management perfectly fits in innovative business environments, including those that have adopted a SOA. Please click here to learn more.
